The Frisians are a light haired, big boned people that live in Friesland, one of the Netherlands' northernmost provinces. Friesland is the only province to retain its own language. Like most parts of the Netherlands, Friesland has trouble with flooding, and owes its existance to dikes.
Friesland is part of the Kingdome of the Netherlands established at the Congress of Vienna in 1814.
Most Frisians live their entire lives in Friesland, but some have migrated to other parts of the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, and North America.
